Nigerian gospel singer Kenny Saint Brown (KSB) has defended her controversial Father’s Day message after facing criticism from fans online.
On Sunday, June 21, while Father’s Day was being observed globally, KSB shared a post on Instagram where she celebrated herself and other mothers who take on both parental roles.
Prompt News reports she expressed appreciation for women raising children alone, adding humor to her message.
“Happy Father’s Day to the moms who mastered both roles.
Because someone else couldn’t handle one.
Appreciation post.
I give God all the glory that I didn’t grow a moustache while playing the role of raising these wonderful children of mine”.
However, the post sparked backlash from some followers who felt it was inappropriate, leading to mixed reactions online.
Responding to the criticism, KSB explained that her intention was not to disrespect fathers but to acknowledge different realities of parenting.
“It is for those who have enjoyed their fathers to celebrate their fathers and for those who also play that role to celebrate themselves. That is the freedom and a subjective celebration. God bless”.

In another response to a user who suggested she already has three occasions to celebrate Mother’s Day, she maintained that people who carry multiple responsibilities deserve recognition too.
“When you play all the roles, you pick all the accolades. No disrespect”.
