Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 25 year old man, Yakubu Musa, during a routine patrol in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, and recovered a cut to size single barrel gun from his residence.
The suspect was apprehended on July 25 along Alaka Road in Ozoro after police officers on township patrol intercepted him carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen.
The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Warri.
According to him, the suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the roofing sheets found in his possession, prompting officers to intensify their investigation.
Edafe said a subsequent search of Musa’s residence led to the recovery of a cut to size single barrel firearm.
He added that the suspect remains in police custody while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
