Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has achieved another career milestone as his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, Dai Dai, has become the highest-charting FIFA World Cup song in history.

The track climbed 25 places on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 to reach a new peak of No. 17, overtaking Shakira and Freshlyground’s iconic 2010 World Cup anthem, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which previously held the record.

Prompt News reports Dai Dai also enjoyed a strong performance in Canada, where it rose to No. 3 on the Canadian Hot 100. The song is also in contention for the top spot on this week’s UK Official Singles Chart.

The achievement adds another milestone to Burna Boy’s growing list of international successes and further cements the global appeal of Afrobeats.

Meanwhile, Billboard has officially discontinued its World Digital Song Sales chart.

The publication confirmed that the final edition of the chart was released on June 27, 2026.

The chart had served as a key measure of the commercial success of songs from regions including Nigeria, Asia, the Caribbean, South Africa and other international markets.

Over the years, several Nigerian stars, including Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Rema, reached the summit of the now-discontinued chart, reflecting the increasing global influence of Nigerian music.
