The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three secondary school students, including a 12-year-old boy, during a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa, Ogun State.
The suspects, aged 12 and 18, were apprehended on Thursday following intelligence about a planned cult-related gathering tagged “Kito Day”, which was reportedly expected to involve students from different secondary schools in the area.
The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this to journalists on Friday, saying the operation was carried out by police detectives in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
According to him, the Divisional Police Officer in Owode-Yewa deployed detectives to the scene on October 22, 2026, after receiving information about the planned activity.
The operation led to the arrest of the three students and the recovery of an axe, two knives, a short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag.
Babaseyi said the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
