The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the death of 26 individuals following a suspected outbreak of cerebrospinal meningitis in Aliero, Gwandu, and Jega local government areas.
Cerebrospinal meningitis is a life-threatening condition that causes inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
It is typically caused by bacterial or viral infections and can be transmitted from person to person.
Common symptoms include high fever, intense headache, neck stiffness, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light. Without prompt medical attention, the disease can lead to severe complications or death.
