Nigerian singer-songwriter Bukola Elemide, widely known as Asa, has announced the death of her mother, leaving fans and colleagues sending messages of support.
The music star disclosed the loss in a touching Instagram post on Tuesday, where she expressed deep sorrow while celebrating her mother’s life and impact on her.
Describing her as irreplaceable, Asa wrote, “my mother, my reason to be, my queen, my everything,” while revealing that the loss came unexpectedly.
“A sudden brain tumour came without warning and took you too soon,” she added, paying tribute to her mother’s kindness and loving nature.
The singer also reminisced about her mother’s personality, noting her “quiet swag,” shy disposition, and subtle sense of humour. She said that although her mother was not musically inclined, she remained her most devoted supporter, always singing along to her songs wholeheartedly.

“Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum,” Asa wrote.
