Pastor Chris Okafor Threatens Legal Action Against VeryDarkMan Over Online Attacks

Counsel to the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, also known as Grace Nation Liberation City, Dr. Chris Okafor, has issued a strong warning to social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan, and a young woman identified as Miss Chi, over what he described as coordinated cyber attacks and false claims against his client.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday, the pastor’s lawyer, Maxwell Okpara, said his client was being subjected to cyberbullying, harassment, stalking and criminal defamation through online publications and videos allegedly promoted by VeryDarkMan and the young woman claiming to be Okafor’s daughter.

Okpara demanded an immediate stop to what he called defamatory campaigns, insisting that all false statements against Pastor Okafor must be withdrawn without delay.

He also called for a public apology to be published in two national newspapers, alongside formal notifications to relevant authorities. In addition, he demanded the removal of all online materials linking the cleric to claims of paternity or abandonment.

The lawyer further challenged the young woman to undergo a DNA test — alongside her sibling — at a mutually agreed, reputable medical facility, especially since she had allegedly claimed to possess a DNA report.

Failure to meet these demands, Okpara warned, would compel his client to “pursue all available legal remedies to protect his reputation, integrity, and ministry.”

Speaking during the briefing, Okpara accused VeryDarkMan of using his platforms to harass and defame Pastor Okafor under the guise of activism.

“It has come to our notice that acts of cyber incitement, cyber bullying, cyber harassment, cyber stalking, criminal defamation and malicious impersonation have been carried out against our client by Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and a young lady who calls herself Miss Chi,” he said.

He added that the activist published interviews and materials allegedly portraying the woman as Okafor’s biological daughter without verifying the claims.

“One is left to wonder how someone who claims to be an activist could recklessly publish such damaging content without first reaching out to our client for his side of the story,” Okpara stated, describing the actions as “self-serving and designed for cheap publicity.”

Providing background to the controversy, the lawyer narrated that during the early years of Okafor’s ministry, a woman had claimed to be pregnant for him, and he initially accepted responsibility.

“Being a responsible young preacher at the time, our client agreed to marry her,” he said.

However, according to Okpara, issues later arose in the marriage, including allegations of misconduct. Matters worsened after Okafor was kidnapped and held for about 50 days.

“During the period of his abduction, the kidnappers contacted the supposed wife for ransom, but she denied knowing him,” he claimed. “Family members later raised money and handed it to her to facilitate his release, but she allegedly diverted the funds.”

He said Pastor Okafor eventually regained freedom “by divine intervention,” and disputes afterward led to questions about the paternity of the children.

“In the course of an argument, the woman reportedly asked him, ‘Do you even think the children are yours?’ This prompted a DNA test,” Okpara stated.

According to him, the test results showed that neither child was biologically related to the pastor.

“The DNA result came back negative for both children. The certificate is in the possession of their mother, and we challenge her to produce it publicly,” he said.

Following the outcome, Okafor reportedly ended the relationship but continued to support the children out of compassion, assisting with their education and welfare abroad.

“This humanitarian support should not be twisted into an admission of paternity,” the lawyer stressed.

He described claims that the pastor abandoned his family as “false, malicious and defamatory,” adding that portraying the children publicly as Okafor’s amounts to deliberate misrepresentation.

            Reiterating their demands, Okpara said:

“We demand an immediate retraction of all defamatory statements, a public apology in two national newspapers, an end to all claims of familial ties, submission to a DNA test at an agreed facility, and the removal of all misleading online content.”

Prompt News reports he concluded by warning that non-compliance would leave his client with “no option but to activate all legal mechanisms available to safeguard his name, dignity and ministry.”

The statement, he said, was issued to “set the record straight, halt the spread of falsehoods, and reaffirm our client’s commitment to truth, fairness and integrity.”
