Nigeria’s Flamingos claimed a 3-1 victory over hosts Bantwana of South Africa in the first leg of their 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second round qualifying tie at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria on Saturday, reports Prompt News.
Shakirat Moshood set the tone for the victory by netting the curtain raiser on 20 minutes.
Forward Harmony Chidi doubled the advantage from the penalty spot five minutes before the break.
South Africa returned from the break with more determination and reduced the deficit just two minutes after the restart.
Skipper Katleho Malebana scored from the penalty spot.
Chidi restored Flamingo’s two-goal lead with her second of the encounter in the 68th minute.
The two teams will clash in the reverse fixture at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne next week Saturday.
