Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has spoken out against the growing trend of body shaming directed at women who undergo cosmetic surgery.
Prompt News reports her reaction comes in the wake of the death of Elena Jessica, a Nigerian woman whose passing has sparked widespread discussions about Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures and body enhancement surgeries.
In a post addressing the issue, the actress highlighted what she described as the hypocrisy among some men who ridicule women’s natural bodies but later criticise them when they choose to undergo cosmetic procedures.
According to her, many men who previously mocked women for their body shapes are now advising them to embrace their natural appearance following the tragic incident.
“Now men are saying women should love themselves and that we’re beautiful the way we are. But the same men bvll¥ women, mock their bodies, and pressure them until they feel like the only option is to get a Be-Be-L. Then, when a woman finally does it, they turn around and shame her for it. Ladies, do whatever you think is right for your own body. It’s your choice, not theirs.”

The actress also made it clear that if she ever considers undergoing surgery, it would only be for weight loss purposes rather than procedures designed to alter her body shape.
Her comments add to the ongoing conversation about body image, cosmetic surgery, and the societal pressures faced by women regarding their appearance.
