The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that three persons were killed while 11 others sustained injuries after bandits attacked Jikamashi town in Musawa Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Katsina.
Abubakar explained that the attack occurred on March 10 at about 6:05 p.m. when the Divisional Police Headquarters in Musawa received a distress call reporting that suspected bandits armed with dangerous weapons had invaded Jikamashi village.
He said the assailants had already inflicted injuries on several residents before security operatives arrived at the scene.
According to him, no fewer than 14 persons were wounded during the assault prior to the intervention of security agencies.
The police spokesman added that upon receiving the report, a joint security team led by the Divisional Police Officer in Musawa was immediately deployed to the area.
He said the operatives confronted the attackers in a gun battle and successfully repelled the assault.
Abubakar further stated that the injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
“Sadly, three of the victims later died while receiving treatment, while the remaining 11 are currently responding to treatment,” he said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bello Shehu, had condemned the attack and directed a comprehensive investigation to ensure those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.
