Nigerian singer Asake has shared insights into his relationship with his father, reflecting on the challenges he faced pursuing his musical career.
In a recent interview on Kortyeo, Asake recalled leaving his father’s house at the age of 15 after his dad opposed his decision to chase a career in music. He described his father as “more stubborn” than he was, which made it difficult for him to confront him directly at the time.
“The father who gave birth to me, he’s more stubborn than I am. So I couldn’t look him in the face. We were close when I was younger, but I came to a point when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no. But I just took off regardless. I was 15 then, focused on where I was going. And there was nothing anybody could tell me,” he said.
Despite the early tension, Asake emphasized that his love and respect for his father remain unwavering. “Even if my father points a gun at me, he’ll always be my father. I love him as much as I love my mother,” he said.

In a recent gesture of gratitude and celebration, the singer surprised both his parents with luxury cars during Ramadan. He had previously gifted his mother a G-Wagon, and later presented his father with a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, capturing the emotional moment on video for his fans.
