The All Progressives Congress in Ward 09, Oke-Iserin, Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, has expelled former House of Representatives member, Dr Saubana Ajibola Muraina, from the party.
Muraina, a three-term federal lawmaker, was expelled after he defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the ward executives and announced in a statement signed by the ward chairman, Fasasi Mustapha, and secretary, Afolabi Abiodun.
The ward leadership accused Muraina of abandoning the APC after failing to secure its ticket to contest the Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 election.
The former lawmaker subsequently joined the PDP and emerged as the party’s candidate for the constituency, according to reports on the 2027 electoral contest.
The APC executives, however, alleged that Muraina continued to present himself as a member of the ruling party despite his defection, saying the conduct could create confusion and division within the party.
They described the alleged conduct as anti-party activity and said it violated provisions of Article 21(A)(ii), (v) and (x) of the APC Constitution, as amended.
The statement read in part, “Consequently, Hon Dr Saubana Ajibola Muraina is hereby expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 09, Oke-Iserin, Igboora.
“He ceases to be a member of our party at ward, local government, state and national levels and should no longer be regarded as or paraded as a member or leader of the APC.”
The ward executives said the expulsion notice had been forwarded through the Ibarapa Central Local Government party chairman to the Oyo State APC chairman for ratification.
They added that the document would subsequently be transmitted to the APC National Working Committee in Abuja for further action.
Muraina previously represented Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North in the House of Representatives and won the seat in 2007, 2011 and 2019. INEC records also show him as the PDP candidate for the constituency in the 2019 election.

He later moved from the PDP to the APC in 2022 and contested the 2023 House of Representatives election on the platform of the ruling party.
His return to the PDP ahead of the 2027 election followed his unsuccessful bid for the APC ticket, according to reports on the development.
