The Federal Government has arraigned the Director-General of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged forgery.
Adeyemi was brought before Justice Muhammed Umar on Wednesday to face an eight-count charge filed against him by the government.
The charges centre on allegations that he forged an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Tinubu.
The Federal Government alleged that the document was presented as having been signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Adeyemi, who had been in police custody since his arrest, was moved to court by the police for the arraignment.
The development followed an investigation into the activities of the agency, which the authorities described as purported or fake.
The charges against Adeyemi include allegations bordering on forgery, with the prosecution expected to present its case before the court.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that police operatives took Adeyemi to court on Wednesday for the commencement of proceedings.
The arraignment is expected to provide the court with details of the allegations against him and allow the defendant to respond to the charges.
