President Bola Tinubu has dismissed speculation about his health, declaring that he is healthy and ready to resume his official duties after returning to Nigeria from an extended working vacation in Europe.
Tinubu spoke on Tuesday shortly after arriving in Lagos from France, where he spent the latter part of his vacation.
Responding to questions from journalists about concerns raised by some Nigerians and his supporters over his health during his prolonged stay abroad, the President said there was no cause for concern.
“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong.
“Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” Tinubu said.
The President departed Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week working vacation in Europe. He initially travelled to London before proceeding to Paris, France.
The Presidency later announced an extension of his stay, stating that Tinubu remained in contact with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct the affairs of the country while abroad.
His prolonged absence had generated public discussion, with political disagreements also emerging over the length of his stay outside the country.
The African Action Congress had subsequently instituted a suit against Tinubu and the National Assembly, alleging that the President failed to notify the lawmakers before embarking on the vacation.
With his return, Tinubu is expected to resume official engagements in Nigeria ahead of the October 1 Independence anniversary.
