Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or Tuface, has stirred fresh conversations in the Afrobeats community after naming Burna Boy as the standout artist ahead of Davido and Wizkid.

The veteran singer shared his thoughts during a recent interview on the Mic On Podcast, hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, with the clip posted on X on Sunday. In the discussion, 2Baba reflected on the achievements of the current generation of Nigerian superstars, stressing that all three artistes have delivered songs he deeply enjoys.

“I have my favourite songs from each, from all of them.

“But my own, if I must be put on the spot to say something, I think Burna is on the top of the game right now,” he said.

The African Queen hitmaker cautioned against direct comparisons, noting that each artist brings a distinct style and creative expression, much like painters producing different kinds of artwork.

“Different artists have different styles. There’s nothing like this one sing pass. Different people have different tastes in what they want and what they like. I’m going into a general aspect of this. I don’t know their bank accounts,” he explained.

“I don’t have any information about their personal successes or all that. I don’t have that. So I can’t speak on that.”

According to 2Baba, his assessment was based purely on his understanding of the global music industry and Burna Boy’s current international impact.

“But from what I can measure from at least common sense and understanding of the music world, I think right now Burna is at the top of this chain.

“Not just in Nigeria, in Africa, in the world. He’s on that but everybody’s doing fantastically well,” he added.

Prompt News reports Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid are widely regarded as the “big three” of Nigerian Afrobeats, and debates over who leads the pack have remained a constant topic among fans and industry watchers.
