Veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs has been laid to rest in Lagos following a funeral service attended by family members, friends, colleagues and dignitaries.

Jacobs was buried on Friday after his funeral service at This Present House Church on Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

The ceremony brought together personalities from the entertainment industry and other sectors who gathered to honour the late actor and reflect on his contributions to Nollywood.

Prompt News reports Jacobs died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, actress Joke Silva, and their two sons.

Among the dignitaries who attended the funeral were Lagos State Deputy Governor, Oba Femi Hamzat; First Lady of Lagos State, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; and former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

The funeral followed a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs held on Wednesday at Glover Memorial Hall on Lagos Island.

The tribute ceremony attracted several prominent Nollywood figures, who came together to celebrate Jacobs’ life, career and influence on the Nigerian film industry.

Those in attendance included Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Funke Akindele, Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, Kate Henshaw, Hilda Dokubo, Segun Arinze, Rita Dominic, Emeka Ike, Femi Adebayo, Saka, Desmond Elliot, Ejike Asiegbu, Keppy Ekpenyong and Norbert Young.
