The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Jarrett Tenebe, has sparked controversy after threatening to unleash “AK-47 fire” on anyone who attempts to frustrate the party’s plan to secure votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Tenebe made the statement in a video that has gone viral on social media.
The APC chairman said the party was targeting 2.5 million votes for Tinubu and warned those who might attempt to obstruct the plan.
According to him, anyone who stood in the way of the party’s efforts would face what he described as “AK-47 fire.”
“Anyone who wants to create an obstacle for us, I have a prayer for you and the prayer is a lesser prayer because if you invoke Holy Ghost power, that one is more.
“If you invoke a general purpose machine gun, that one is lighter.
“So everybody who refuses, who wants to stand in our way, for us not to have those votes that we intend to give to Mr President, AK-47 fire,” he said.
The remarks have generated reactions on social media, with some users criticising the statement and expressing concerns over the possibility of intimidation during the 2027 elections.
The development also comes amid renewed concerns and allegations by political actors about threats and coercion ahead of the general elections.
