Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has criticised Thomas Tuchel’s tactical decisions in England’s 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final, Prompt News Online reports.
England’s dream of reaching their first World Cup final since 1966 was dashed by a 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday.
The Three Lions looked on course for victory after Anthony Gordon opened the scoring early in the second half.
Argentina however fought back with five minutes remaining on the clock.
Lionel Messi set up Enzo Fernández to fire home the equaliser in the 85th minute before delivering a pinpoint cross for Lautaro Martínez, who headed in the winner.
Tuchel came under scrutiny for his substitutions after England surrendered their lead.
Oliseh believed Tuchel failed to manage the game well.
“One of the worst-managed games in World Cup history. Leading 1-0 with over 25 minutes left, and you park the entire bus inside your own box? Pulling the lone striker deep invited relentless pressure. When you stop playing and only defend, a 2-1 heartbreak is inevitable,” Oliseh wrote on X.
Argentina will face Spain in the final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday.
