The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspected motorcycle robber, recovered a stolen motorcycle and uncovered forged documents and other exhibits in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.
The command said the operations formed part of its ongoing efforts to tackle crime and protect lives and property.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, one of the operations was carried out on July 9 along Adepetu Street, off Flagship area in Ondo Town, where officers arrested a 32-year-old suspect, John Anthony, during an alleged attempt to rob a commercial motorcyclist.
Police said the victim, Felix Olusola, had picked up two passengers from Ife Garage heading towards the Flagship area.
However, he became suspicious after noticing that the passengers had no specific destination and were directing him around different parts of the town.
Sensing danger, the motorcyclist raised the alarm and struggled with one of the suspects, while the second suspect fled with a bag.
Operatives, assisted by members of the public, responded to the distress call, arrested Anthony and recovered the motorcycle.
A search of the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a large screwdriver believed to have been intended for use during the operation. Police added that the suspect failed to give a satisfactory account of his presence in Ondo Town, while efforts are ongoing to arrest his fleeing accomplice.
In a separate operation, detectives uncovered a suspected motorcycle theft and forgery case following a complaint by Omoniyi Opeyemi, who reported that a man identified as Daniel Motunrayo visited his office to verify the authenticity of a receipt issued in his company’s name for an unregistered black TVS ladies’ motorcycle allegedly purchased from one Omotosho Segun Joshua.
Police said investigations revealed that the receipt was forged and that the motorcycle had earlier been reported stolen.
A search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of a laptop containing forged receipts, the unregistered TVS motorcycle, two army camouflage trousers, a Samsung television set and a Domoclip air fryer.
The exhibits have been taken into police custody, while investigations continue to determine the extent of the suspect’s activities, identify possible accomplices and recover other stolen items linked to the case.
Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu commended the commercial motorcyclist for his vigilance and courage, as well as members of the public who assisted officers in apprehending the suspect.

He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly and continue to support the police with credible information, assuring that investigations into both cases were ongoing.
