United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, has personally invited rapper Nicki Minaj to the US Embassy in New York after she publicly supported President Donald Trump’s comments regarding Nigeria.
On Saturday, Waltz praised Minaj for using her platform to shed light on the situation facing Christians in Nigeria. He encouraged a discussion about the US administration’s efforts to protect religious freedoms worldwide.
He wrote, “@NICKIMINAJ, thank you for using your platform to speak out in defense of the Christians being affected in Nigeria. We cannot allow this to continue. Every brother and sister of Christ must band together and say, ‘Enough!’
“If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the US Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”
Prompt News reports the invitation came shortly after Minaj responded to Trump’s declaration labeling Nigeria a “country of particular concern.” Trump highlighted the ongoing violence against Christians on Truth Social, saying, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical groups are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern.’”
Trump also warned that the United States could suspend aid or even consider military action if the killings persisted. He added, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians.”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu responded to the announcement by calling for calm and describing the US remarks as unnecessary, asserting that Nigeria’s government is fully capable of handling its internal security matters.

Minaj, in her own post, expressed gratitude for Trump’s stance on freedom of worship, saying, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be attacked for practising their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
She further added, “Numerous countries around the world are being affected by this horror, and it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President and his team for taking this seriously. God bless every affected Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
