Kwara United have emerged the 2025 President Federation Cup men’s champion, Prompt News reports.
The Harmony Boys defeated Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties in a thrilling final played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Saturday night.
It was the first time Tunde Sanni’s side will be winning Nigeria’s oldest football competition.
Alyufsalam Rocks were the first club from Kwara State to qualify for the final of the President Federation Cup in 1976, but they lost 2-0 to Rangers.
Kwara United and Abakaliki FC fought hard in the contest coming close to winning the game a couple of times.
The game went straight into penalty after 90 minutes.
Kwara United prevailed in the shootout, converting four kicks, while Abakaliki FC netted thrice.
The Ilorin club will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
