Brighton levelled 10 minutes later from a Pervis Estupian’s fine free kick.
The home team up the ante afterwards and went in front again six minutes before the break courtesy of Omar Marmoush’s fine strike.
Abdukodir Khusanov’s attempt to clear Adam Webster’s header from a corner soon after the interval drew the visitors level once again.
Manchester City remain in fifth position with 48 points from 29 matches.
Brighton on the other hand maintained seventh position with 47 points from same number of matches.
