Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has taken a swipe at leading Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, Olamide and Burna Boy, accusing them of limiting opportunities for upcoming artistes in the industry.
According to the Zazu crooner, the long-standing dominance of the four musicians has made it difficult for new acts to break through and attain superstar status. He claimed that their sustained hold on the spotlight over the past decade has slowed the emergence of fresh faces in Nigerian music.
Portable also alleged that the frequent display of expensive lifestyles by the superstars places undue pressure on younger artistes. He specifically accused them of exaggerating the cost of luxury items such as jewelry.
In a video shared on his social media page, he said, “Wizkid, Olamide, Davido, and Burna Boy have been at the top for over 10 years and blocking the way for other artistes to come up. They also lie a lot, they can say they bought a chain for 1 billion dollars, whereas it might have been given to them for free.”

The singer urged established musicians to be more conscious of their influence, noting that constant flaunting of wealth can create unrealistic expectations for those still trying to find their footing in the industry.
Prompt News reports he also maintained that he would not shy away from speaking out again if, according to him, things do not change.
