By Gracious Akujobi The Chief Operating Officer, League Management Company (LMC), Salishu Abubakar has assured that any of the three teams that win the league title will be presented with the prestigious trophy at the end of the match.
The Glo Nigeria Premier League officially comes to an end on Sunday October 20, with three teams in contention to win the league.
Kano Pillars, defending champion, Bayelsa United and El Kanemi Warriors are the three teams contending for the coveted trophy.
Despite the fact that the trophy could be won on any of the three centres, Abubakar assured that the presentation of trophy to the eventual winners will be done same day as soon as the match ends.
He told Prompt News Online “As you can see now we have a situation where the trophy could be won on any of the three centers Katsina Ala,Enugu and Gombe.
“We are working hard to see how we can do the presentation in all the centers, LMC members will be at these three venues communicating with ourselves, whoever wins the trophy we will just present there. We will present real trophy not replicas”
When asked what the league winners will go home with as price money Abubakar replied thus:
“There was no price money last year and we did not promise any club any price money. Yes things have changed since we came on board but we did not promise any price money”
“We are working on kind of performance bonus for the winners whereby your position on the league table will determine how much bonus you will win. Surely the league winner and other clubs will get something for a start” he stated.
