Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, has celebrated becoming a Guinness World Records holder following the record-breaking cinema screening of ‘Black Market’ in Lagos.

More than 51,000 people reportedly gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on Saturday to watch the movie, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest audience at a film screening.

Prompt News reports Guinness World Records officials confirmed the feat during the event, with ‘Black Market’ surpassing the previous record of 43,624 people set by ‘Felix Manalo’ in the Philippines in 2015.

Produced by Rixel Studios, the movie features several Nollywood stars, including Omowunmi Dada, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Itele, Teniola Aladese and Susan Pwajok.

Reacting to the milestone, Itele took to social media to reflect on his journey from Agbado and Agege to international recognition.

The actor said the achievement had made him appreciate how far he had come and credited God for his progress.

“That boy from Agbado Crossing/Agege – To the world.

“Sometimes you have to look back at where you started to appreciate how far God has brought you, truly, truly.

“Today, I’m proud to say I was part of the cast of Black Market, a film that has made history with a Guinness World Record.

“This is more than just another movie for me; it’s a big win for my career and my journey, and another reminder never to stop believing, never stop working, and never look down on your humble beginnings.

“From the streets of Agege and Agbado Crossing to the world stage – that little boy kept dreaming, kept pushing, kept believing – and today, he’s part of history!”.
