Former Big Brother Naija housemate and entrepreneur, Uriel Oputa, has criticised the growing trend of couples making their private relationship conflicts public on social media.
The reality star expressed her concerns in a post on her social media page, questioning why partners now choose to involve the public in disagreements that could otherwise be handled privately.
“When did social media become the family court?” she asked.
Uriel said she hopes to be with a partner who understands that disagreements within a relationship do not necessarily have to become public matters.
She advised couples experiencing conflict to prioritise private conversations and seek appropriate help when necessary rather than turning to social media for validation or intervention.
According to her, couples can resolve their differences through honest communication, family intervention or professional counselling, depending on the circumstances.
Prompt News reports the reality star also pointed out how quickly social media users can become involved when relationship disputes are made public.

She noted that people online may choose sides, circulate screenshots, create memes and engage in heated arguments in the comment sections before eventually moving on to another trending issue.
“Social media doesn’t love you the way you think it does,” Uriel said.
