Gospel artist Chidinma Ekile has revealed a chilling yet transformative encounter that occurred during a private 40-day fast and prayer retreat on a mountain.
In a candid testimony, the singer spoke about confronting the darkest moment of her life and how divine intervention pulled her back from the edge—literally.
According to Chidinma, the journey began after she returned from the United States with a burning desire to hear from God.

Rather than ease back into her usual routine, she was drawn to a remote location in the wilderness to seek clarity through intense prayer and fasting.
“I went to the mountain. I’m not Jesus, but I fasted and prayed for over forty days. I lost weight. The experience was something I never imagined,” she said.
“I came from America and went straight to the bush. I slept on one side till I finished. I cried, I sang, I prayed, and God came to me and spoke to me. It was so real. I never knew He loved me this much.”
But what was meant to be a period of intimacy with God turned into a severe spiritual attack. Chidinma described a moment during the retreat where she became the target of demonic manipulation—so much so that she was nearly convinced to take her own life.
“While I was on the mountain, the enemy tried everything to take me before my time,” she revealed.
“It was more like I was in a theatre. God performed surgery on me, took some things and put in some. He broke me into shreds.”
She went on to describe how, during the height of the attack, the enemy led her to the top of a cliff under the cover of darkness and urged her to jump.
“The devil took me to the top of the mountain, to the cliff at night, where everything was dark. And right there at the cliff, the devil asked me to jump. The voice was so strong. The enemy has seen what the Lord is about to do, and he said he needs to abort the mission now.”
Chidinma said she nearly obeyed—until God stepped in.
“I was about to take the jump, and I noticed I was being barricaded, and I couldn’t jump. Something was just there, and I was crying, and somehow my spiritual mum came to get me out,” she recalled.
“I could have lost my life, but God had mercy. He showered me with so much love, the way I have never known it.”
Since the experience, Chidinma said her perspective on life has completely shifted. She now sees her walk with God as the most fulfilling part of her existence, far beyond fame, music, or material success.
“I’ve seen it all, and material things don’t move me anymore. God is looking for those who are not perfect or strong people,” she added.
“I feel so much peace inside of me, peace that I never had and cannot buy with money. I was doing all I had to do, but I wasn’t fulfilled. I needed to move, but I didn’t know how. But Jesus is King.”
