ABUJA – Panic erupted on Monday morning as a fire broke out in a part of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building within the Federal Secretariat complex.
Eyewitnesses shared videos on social media showing thick, black smoke rising from an upper floor of the multi-storey structure around 8:00 a.m.
The footage indicated that the blaze was largely concentrated in Section C of the building.
Staff members were seen evacuating the premises as emergency responders rushed to the scene to contain the fire.
A spokesperson for the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the outbreak, stating that firefighters had been deployed promptly and were working to bring the situation under control. “We received the alert early this morning, and our personnel responded immediately. Efforts to manage the fire are ongoing,” the official said.
