Nollywood actor and Lagos State lawmaker Desmond Elliot recently stirred online conversation with his bold fashion choice at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), donning a striking black two-piece outfit featuring a skirt and a prominent elephant imprint.
The outfit drew mixed reactions on social media, with many questioning the inspiration behind the unconventional look. In an interview with Saturday Beats, Elliot explained that the ensemble was a form of personal expression and a reflection of his current stage in life.
“I’m more involved in politics now, so when you get the chance to step out, make it count,” he said.
“Don’t say too much, but let your presence speak volumes. At 50, life is about taking bold chances.
It can go either way—you could pull it off or completely flop—but you have to try.”
He emphasized that the elephant symbol, which featured prominently on the outfit, holds personal significance for him.
The elephant represents power, strength, loyalty, stability, and love—values I try to embody,” he added.
When asked about life in the spotlight, Elliot said he has grown to accept it, though it’s not something he actively seeks. “I won’t say I love the attention, but it’s okay.
