Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared a heartfelt story about the early days of Iyabo Ojo’s journey into the movie industry.
Speaking during a recent podcast, Akintola revealed that she met Iyabo when she was just 19 years old and full of ambition.
According to her, Iyabo had come to her house, eager to begin a career in acting.

“She came to my house. She was very young and I asked, ‘What do you want?’ She said she wanted to act,” Bimbo recalled.
Inspired by Iyabo’s passion, Bimbo went out of her way to help her land a major lead role—an uncommon break for a newcomer.
However, she admitted she was hurt when she found out Iyabo was pregnant at the time.
“Iyabo offended me when I got her a lead role. I don’t beg for roles, but I did for her. She was pregnant,” she said.
Akintola praised Iyabo for her strength and determination despite the disappointment, acknowledging how she pushed through tough times to become a prominent figure in Nollywood.
“What I like is that she went the extra mile to fulfill her acting dream,” she added.
The revelation offers a glimpse into the struggles and triumphs behind Iyabo Ojo’s rise in the film industry.
