Veteran Nollywood actor and immediate past President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, Adewale Elesho, has undergone a successful operation following concerns over an injury observed on his face.
The update was shared by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Oluwafemi Adejonwo, popularly known as Femson, in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Public concern over Elesho’s health increased after he was seen with a noticeable injury on his face during the burial ceremony of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Images of the actor subsequently circulated online, prompting speculation about the condition of his health. Some social media users claimed that the injury could be linked to skin cancer.
The ANTP, however, said the actor had undergone an operation and was in stable condition while recuperating. The association did not confirm any diagnosis of skin cancer.
In an earlier statement, the association said, “In recent days, there have been several posts on social media concerning the health of our dear brother, Prince Adewale Adeoye ELESHO, the immediate past President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners – ANTP, with many speculations including skin cancer. We hereby confirm that the operation was successful. He is stable and recuperating well.”
Femson later provided another update on Elesho’s condition, reassuring concerned colleagues and members of the public.
“By God’s grace, his operation was successful.
“He is doing well and recovering.
“Thank you all for the calls, prayers and concern.
“We appreciate you.
“Continue to pray for his speedy recovery,” he said.

It also appealed to the public to disregard unconfirmed reports and continue supporting Elesho with prayers as he recovers.
