Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz is confident his team will continue to grow in cohesion and performance at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Ghana began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Panama, a match that looked set to end without goals until late drama decided the contest.
Forward Caleb Yirenkyi struck in the closing moments, finishing from a cross delivered by Brandon Thomas-Asante to secure all three points for the Black Stars.
Reflecting on the performance, Queiroz highlighted the ongoing tactical adjustment within the team, noting that the squad is adapting to a new playing structure designed to suit the players’ strengths.
“We are growing as a team,” he said. “We are playing a different system, and our attacking methods are built around the profile of our players.
“We want vertical football and full-speed action. Step by step, the players will improve and adjust to each other,” Queiroz added.
In Group L, Ghana sit second behind England, who made a strong start with a 4-2 win over Croatia.
The Black Stars will face England in their next game at the Gillette Stadium on Tuesday night.
