Tunisia have appointed Hervé Renard as the new head coach of the Carthage Eagles, Prompt News Online reports.
The Tunisian Football Federation dismissed Sabri Lamouchi on Monday following the team’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening fixture of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Renard’s first task will be overseeing Tunisia’s crucial Group F clash against Japan in Monterrey on June 20.
The 57-year-old is expected to arrive in Monterrey on Tuesday and will take charge of the team’s training session later in the day.
Renard is no stranger to African football, having previously managed Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire.
The Frenchman guided Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations title and led Côte d’Ivoire to continental glory three years later in 2015.
