A wedding celebration in Kano State turned violent after a 34-year-old man, Rabiu Mukthar, allegedly opened fire on guests over the loud music being played at the ceremony, killing one person and injuring three others.
The incident reportedly occurred when Mukthar, a resident of Tudun Yola Quarters, came out of his house and allegedly fired repeatedly at people attending the marriage ceremony.
The Kano State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect allegedly used a pump-action firearm during the attack.
Kiyawa said the police moved swiftly after receiving information about the shooting, leading to the arrest of Mukthar and another suspect.

The firearm allegedly used in the attack was also recovered from the 34-year-old suspect.
According to the police, Mukthar told investigators that the organisers of the event had failed to seek his consent before playing the music.
He reportedly complained that the noise disturbed his sleep and claimed that this prompted him to resort to shooting at the gathering.
The suspect and the other person arrested in connection with the incident are currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Kano State Police Command.
The command said investigation into the incident was ongoing, while efforts were being made to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the dangers of disputes over noise and public celebrations escalating into violence, particularly where firearms are involved.
