Nigeria’s Falconets secured a valuable point after playing out a 0-0 draw with China in their second Group F match at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Moses Aduku’s side delivered a much-improved performance to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening game.
China, who defeated tournament debutants New Caledonia 5-0 in their first match, started strongly and put the Nigerian defence under early pressure.
The Falconets, however, grew in confidence as the game progressed and created a number of opportunities of their own, but they were unable to find the breakthrough.
Nigeria appeared to have a chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty with 16 minutes remaining. However, the decision was overturned following a VAR review.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could break the deadlock as the match ended goalless.
The result leaves Nigeria with one point from two matches and keeps their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
The Falconets will face New Caledonia in their final group game on Sunday, with victory likely to be crucial to their chances of progressing.
Spain currently top Group F with six points, while China are second with four points. Nigeria occupy third place with one point.
