Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has been buried in Ogun State following a funeral service held on Thursday.
Osoba’s death was announced on August 5, nearly two years after she underwent surgery for breast cancer in November 2024.
The actress was initially scheduled to be buried on August 13, 2026, after a candlelight procession and artiste tribute night were held in her honour on August 11. However, the family later postponed the burial, citing the need to make additional arrangements and settle some outstanding matters.
On Thursday, her remains were moved from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, to Akesan Club in Iperu Remo, where the funeral service took place.
She was subsequently laid to rest at the Iperu Remo Cemetery, with family members, friends and colleagues turning up in white outfits to honour her memory.
Among those present at the funeral were fellow Nollywood actors Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia.
Prompt News reports Osoba’s death has generated controversy following claims and allegations that emerged on social media after her passing.
Some reports alleged that the actress died from emotional distress rather than cancer, while other accusations were levelled against her fiancé, Itunu Onadeko, and members of his family over alleged mistreatment during her illness.

The allegations have not been established as facts.
The Celestial Church of Christ, where Onadeko serves as a shepherd, recently announced that it had commenced an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.
Osoba began her career as a dancer before venturing into acting in the early 2000s. She later became known for appearances in films including ‘Gucci Girls’ (2012), ‘Accident’ (2013) and ‘Ifedolapo’ (2015).
Her burial marks the final rites for the actress amid continued calls for clarity over the circumstances surrounding her death.
