A fatal accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday morning, claiming the lives of two individuals, including a staff member from Babcock University.

The crash, which happened around 7:15 a.m. near Danco Filling Station, also left five others with serious injuries.

The Ogun State Police Command reported that the incident involved a Toyota Sienna space bus, with registration number EPE 430 HT, driven by Adewale Yusuf, and a stationary luxury bus (KTU 835 XY) owned by Young Shall Grow Transport Company.

The luxury bus had halted in traffic due to a minor accident ahead when the speeding Toyota Sienna lost control and crashed into its rear.

Chief Superintendent of Police, Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the police, confirmed that five passengers in the Sienna bus sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Live Well Hospital in Sagamu.

Also, two male passengers—one of whom was identified as Charles Izuchukwu, a staff member of Babcock University—died from their injuries.

The bodies were taken to Last Home Green Mortuary in Sagamu, while the other injured passengers, along with the driver of the Sienna bus, are receiving medical attention.

The Ogun State Motor Traffic Department responded quickly, documenting the incident and clearing the wreckage to restore traffic flow.

The authorities have urged the public to report reckless driving and hazardous road conditions to local police or road safety officers to help prevent future accidents.
