Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has been awarded the 2024/25 Ebony Shoe, recognizing the best African player in Belgium’s top football division.
The 24-year-old KRC Genk forward enjoyed a standout season, scoring 20 goals in the Jupiler Pro League to become the league’s second-highest scorer.
His contributions helped Genk top the regular season table, although the team faced setbacks during the championship play-offs.
Arokodare becomes the sixth Nigerian to win the prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Paul Onuachu (2021), Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Godwin Opara, and Celestine Babayaro.
Born in Festac Town, Lagos, Arokodare made his Super Eagles debut in 2025, replacing Victor Osimhen in a World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
Prompt News reports that he earned his second cap shortly after, featuring in a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.
