No fewer than 450,000 Nigerians have applied for various Federal Government positions, The PUNCH reports.
In January 2025, the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) announced the start of recruitment into over 70 vacancies within the Federal Civil Service.
The vacancies include roles such as Administrative Officer, Planning Officer, Programme Analyst, Procurement Officer, Senior Computer Engineer, Dentist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Education Officer, Youth Development Officer, Fisheries Officer, Nursing Officer, Radiographer, Auditor, Psychologist, Biomedical Engineer, Surveyor, Aerodrome Engineer, Statistician, Foreign Affairs Officer, among others.
Taiwo Hassan, Head of Press and Public Relations at the FCSC, emphasized that only eligible Nigerians could apply through the commission’s official recruitment portal.
The application deadline, originally March 10, was extended to March 17, 2025.
However, many applicants reported challenges accessing the recruitment portal during the registration period.
A senior official from the commission, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the total number of vacancies is fewer than 10,000, creating intense competition among applicants.
“Over 450,000 applied for this recruitment, but there are fewer than 10,000 available positions.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted to write a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in their respective states,” the official said.
