Five days after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Electoral Committee released the timetable for the federation’s Executive Committee elections scheduled for September 27, 2026 in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, only two presidential aspirants have bought their forms to challenge the incumbent Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
According to the timetable released by the Committee, the sale of nomination forms commenced on Saturday, August 1, 2026 alongside the publication of the Election Guidelines just as it set August 12 as the deadline for submitting completed nomination forms.
But as at Wednesday afternoon only England-based David Buhari Doherty and Segun Solanke who owns an amateur football club in Ogun state and Provazios Sports Academy in Lagos state, have purchased their NFF Presidential Election Nomination Forms.
The presidential aspirants and others who have picked Nomination Forms to fill other positions like three Vice Presidents post and several Executive Committee Membership have less than two weeks to complete and submit their nomination forms.
Within that period, they are required to secure six endorsements from six different geopolitical zones across Nigeria to stand in a good position to contest for the plum job.
Meanwhile, aspirants with irregularities in their submitted documents will be notified between August 13 and 19 while the period for correcting such irregularities will run from August 20 to 27.
Screening of successful candidates will take place between August 27 and 30 just as the provisional list of cleared candidates will be published on August 31, while candidates disqualified during the screening process will have between September 1 and 3 to lodge their appeals.
The Electoral Committee is expected to determine all appeals between September 4 and 10 while the final list of cleared candidates will be published between September 11 and 12 and the 2026 NFF Election Delegates’ list released on September 13, 2026.
According to the timetable, campaigns by cleared candidates will run from 14 to 24 September 14 and 24 before delegates elect a new Executive Committee on September 27 in Lafia.
The Committee also set September 30, 2026 as the deadline for submitting election petitions.
