Properties and equipment worth millions of naira were destroyed after separate fire outbreaks ravaged an aluminium company in Ibadan and a residential building in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The incidents, which occurred on Wednesday and Thursday, were confirmed by the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, who said firefighters promptly contained both blazes.
The industrial fire broke out at an aluminium company located at Km 110, Iyaganku area of Ibadan on Thursday.
According to Akinwande, the facility—comprising an office structure and an adjoining warehouse—was already engulfed in flames by the time emergency responders arrived.
He attributed the cause of the fire to an electrical spark from a plugged appliance that had been left unattended, which ignited nearby combustible materials and spread rapidly through the building.
In a related development, a residential building in Ogbomoso was also gutted by fire on Wednesday.
Akinwande explained that the blaze affected one of the rooms in the ageing structure before it was brought under control by firefighters.
He noted that no casualty was recorded in either incident, adding that the swift response of fire service personnel helped to prevent further damage.

Authorities have urged residents and business owners to observe safety precautions, particularly in the handling of electrical appliances, to avert similar occurrences.
