President, Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, Gianni Infantino has congratulated Remo Stars for winning the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title.
Daniel Ogunmodede’s side claimed the title with three games to go after a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes last month.
It was the first time the Ikenne club will be winning the NPFL title.
Remo Stars finished in second position for two consecutive seasons before finally laying their hands on the title.
The Ikenne club make history as the first South West club to win the trophy in over two decades.
Infantino praised the club for their consistent performance during the season.
“By means of this letter, I am pleased to congratulate the new champions of Nigeria, Remo Stars FC,” Infantino wrote.
“Their constant efforts and results throughout the season have paid off, resulting in this important title. Congratulations to each and every member of the team and of the club for this great achievement.”
Remo Stars will compete in the CAF Champions League next season.
They have featured on the continent for the last three seasons failing to make it to the group stage.
Enyimba are the last Nigerian club to taste success on the continent.
The 2024/25 NPFL season will end this weekend.
