The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, should be ‘worshipping’ President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for declaring a State of Emergency which saved him from outright removal as the State Governor.
Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), who made the submission said he actually wanted Fubara to be impeached by the State House of Assembly.
Wike who spoke during a media parley he hosted in Abuja, however, hinted on how Fubara can return to and have a peaceful tenure.
“As a politician, I am not happy with the declaration of Emergency Rule in Rivers state. I wanted the outright removal of the governor.
“But for the interest of the state, the President did the right thing to prevent anarchy in the state.
“The governor was gone. He was gone, yes… so when people say the president did this, I say they should be praising him.
“Every morning, they should go to the President and ask, ‘Can we wash your feet for saving us?’
“Mr. President came in and saved the situation, saved Rivers people from that calamity and anarchy,” Wike said.
The minister gave a condition for him to forgive the suspended governor, saying if he genuinely seeks forgiveness.
When asked if he would let go if Fubara asks for forgiveness, the Minister replied in the affirmative, saying: “Sincerely.”
Prompt News recalls that President Tinubu while declaring Emergency Rule suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all members of the House of Assembly for six months.
He also appointed Vice Admiral Ibas as the Sole Administrator to superintend over the affairs of the state for six months.
