Nigerian disc jockey and entrepreneur Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has reflected on her personal transformation, revealing how her relationship with Christ has changed the way she views fame, recognition and public opinion.
Cuppy shared her thoughts in a video posted online, where she spoke about the pressure she once felt to remain relevant and receive validation from others.
According to the DJ, she was previously concerned about being recognised and feared becoming irrelevant, leading her to crave attention and social media clout.
However, she said her priorities changed after embracing Christ, adding that she now enjoys a greater sense of peace and no longer measures her worth by how people perceive her.
“I was so desperate for validation at the start of my career. I wanted to be relevant. I was scared of not being important. I craved clout. And now I’m just in a place of peace,” she said.
Prompt News reports Cuppy also referenced a Bible verse while explaining her decision to focus more on pleasing God than seeking approval from people.
“It reminds me of a verse in the Bible, 1st Galatians 10, which says Really and truly, am I trying to please people, or am I actually trying to please God because if I were people-pleasing, I would not be a servant of Christ,” she stated.
