A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of a 67-year-old man, Lamidi Salau, and his wife, Lamidi Aina Abigail, 65, over the alleged murder of a 25-year-old housewife, Kehinde Omize.
The couple were ordered to be detained at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti following allegations of conspiracy to murder and murder.
The prosecution, led by ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that there was sufficient basis to remand the defendants alongside another suspect, who is currently at large, in connection with the alleged offences.
According to the prosecutor, the suspects were allegedly involved in the death of Omize, with the offences said to have occurred within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on September 9, 2026.
Oriyomi told the court that the alleged offences contravened Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
He subsequently filed an ex parte application seeking a 30-day remand order to allow the police to conclude their investigation into the matter.
The prosecutor also informed the court that the case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The defendants’ pleas were not taken when the matter came up for hearing. They were, however, represented by their counsel, Barrister L.A. Fasanmi.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the prosecution’s application and ordered that the two defendants be remanded at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti.

The court adjourned the matter until October 9, 2026, for mention.
