Dominican University Ibadan, set to inaugurate first female Vice Chancellor, Prof Jacinta Opara

The inauguration and swearing-in of the first female Vice Chancellor of Dominican University, Ibadan, South West Nigeria, Professor Jacinta Opara, will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024.

The onboarding activities commenced on Sunday, June 23, 2204 with a meeting with the Proprietor and Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr Modestus Ngwu, OP

This was followed on Monday, June 24, with a meeting with Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dokun Oyeshola, OP and the Core Management Team.

On Tuesday, June 25, meeting with the Prior of St. Thomas Aquinas Priory, Ibadan, was held and on Wednesday, June 26, a meeting with the Head of Bursary Unit, Mrs Sybil Onunaku, and the Internal Auditor followed.

Other activities  that had been held were meeting with the Hostel Manager and Tour of the Hostels (Female & Male), meeting of Senate and meeting of University Congregation.

On Saturday, June 29, continuation of Tour around Ibadan city and Courtesy visits while on Sunday June 30, Inauguration/Thanksgiving Servicewill hold at Dominican Chapel.

On Monday, July 1, 2024,Prof Jacinta Opara,will be formally inaugurated at a ceremony billed to hold at  Tom & Carolyn Walker Hall by 12.00 noon, to be followed by lunch with invited guests at the University Cafeteria.

Prof Jacinta A. Opara is a leading African environmental scholar, scientist, educator, health researcher, consultant and development activist with the combined power of management and human rights.

She’s President, African Association for Teaching and Learning and Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute of Policy Management Development.  READ ALSO:

Prof Opara is a graduate of University of Ibadan and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She received postgraduate degrees from University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, University of Granada, Central University of Nicaragua, Akerhsus University (now Olso Metropolitan University), Universidad Catolica San Antonio de Murcia(UCAM) and University of Chalco-Mexico.
