An Area Court at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara, has dissolved the Islamic marriage between Balikis Musa and Idris Yakub on the request of the wife and acceptance by her husband.
The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumonbi, dissolved the marriage between the two parties, saying that the applicant had already sent a note to the court to indicate his approval.
He ordered that the applicant should observe a three-month period before marrying another man.
The court said the respondent should be responsible for the only child of the marriage in terms of feeding, school fees, and maintenance to the best of his ability.
The court also said custody of the child was to be given to the maternal grandmother, while the respondent should have unrestricted access to the child, but at reasonable times.
Earlier, the applicant told the court that she was no longer interested in the marriage, saying that she did not love the respondent any longer.
She said the love ceased after giving birth to their first born and she could no longer move on with the relationship and had to pack out of the house.

The respondent told the court that the applicant abandoned her matrimonial home, and 11 months old baby for three years without any information of her whereabouts.
He said the baby was taken to his mother-in-law who took care of the child, until the mother returned after three years, still demanding for divorce. (NAN)
