The Supreme Court has affirmed the final forfeiture of properties linked to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, bringing an end to the legal dispute over the assets.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel headed by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, the apex court overturned the decision of the Court of Appeal in Lagos, which had earlier nullified the forfeiture order and directed that the matter be retried.

The justices held that the appeal had merit and consequently restored the judgment of the Federal High Court in Lagos, which ordered the permanent forfeiture of the properties.
With the ruling, the Supreme Court effectively dismissed Emefiele’s challenge to the forfeiture order, making the Federal High Court’s decision final.
