Guinea-Bissau stunned Nigeria’s Super Eagles with a 3-0 victory in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group L matchday-two encounter on Tuesday.
Franculino Dju opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute with a superb strike, giving Guinea-Bissau an early advantage.
The home side remained compact and disciplined defensively for the rest of the first half, frustrating Nigeria’s attempts to find an equaliser.
Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle responded after the break with a double substitution, bringing on Moses Simon and Moses Usor for Taiwo Awoniyi and Frank Onyeka.
Nigeria created opportunities early in the second half but failed to convert them, allowing Guinea-Bissau to maintain their advantage.
Mama Baldé doubled the hosts’ lead in the 66th minute with another stunning effort before substitute Álvaro Djaló completed the rout with a stoppage-time goal.
The victory sees Guinea-Bissau remain top of Group L with six points from two matches, while Nigeria stay in second place.
