Tacha Slams Jehovah’s Witness Over Refusal of Life-Saving Cancer Treatment

Reality star Tacha has weighed in on the health crisis of X (formerly Twitter) personality Omolola Mensah, popularly known as Aunty Esther, following her decision to decline a life-saving blood transfusion.

Aunty Esther, a devoted member of a prominent church, was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her armpit.

Doctors recommended chemotherapy, which often requires blood transfusions to maintain healthy blood levels. However, her church’s doctrine prohibits the acceptance of blood, equating transfusions to consuming blood.

A fundraiser coordinated by media personality Wisdom Obi-Dickson raised N30,776,252 for her treatment, with notable contributions including N5 million from Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen. Supporters rallied around Omolola, who has a loyal following as a personal shopper on X.

Obi-Dickson later revealed that Omolola had declined the transfusion, citing her faith. He stepped down from coordinating the fundraiser, referencing complications such as threats of disfellowship from her church and her family’s belief that the outcome was “God’s will.” Obi-Dickson also claimed that Omolola asked a caregiver to lie about her decision, calling her “not a good or honest person.”

Reacting to the situation, Tacha argued that people who do not wish to continue living should be allowed to make that choice. She described attempts to intervene as “pure madness” and criticised Aunty Esther’s attitude and perceived lack of empathy.

            Tacha wrote:
“Honestly yall, If somebody wants to diie, i don’t see the argument, you people should allow the person die. I don’t see reasons trying to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved..This isn’t about religious belief it’s just pure madness.”

She further called out Aunty Esther’s behavior on social media, highlighting what she described as recklessness:
“And let’s be for real, I’m not surprised about Aunty Esther’s situation.. She has consistently shown recklessness and a lack of care over the years, even when there’s a serious issue or a family mourning on Twitter, she’ll be there advertising her business with no empathy. But of course, she’s ‘Twitters Favorite’ so yall have always giving her a clear pass. Big hypocrites.”

Prompt News reports Tacha also questioned the contradiction between religious adherence and refusal of life-saving treatment:
“Isn’t it funny, how your religion allows you to ‘lie’ listen! If you can lie, you can steal and cheat. Your religion permits all that, but won’t allow a blood transfusion to save your OWN life??”

She concluded by suggesting that the funds raised could be better used to save others who want to live:
“That 30 million Naira raised can save 50-100 lives in today’s Nigeria! Just channel the funds to people who want to live, and let those who want to diie do so in peace.”

The remarks have reignited debate on social media, with reactions divided over the ethics of respecting faith versus prioritizing life-saving medical intervention.
